The material for ASTM A234 WP9 Fittings includes different kinds of carbon steel and alloy steel. While WP9 is the steel grade. The Alloy Steel ASTM A234 WP9 Pipe Fittings are produced in different forms such as elbows, reducers, tees, caps, cross etc. Usually, these fittings are constructed either in a seamless or a welded manner. The ASTM A234 WP9 Material for fittings generally consists of forgings, bars, killed steel, plates, seamless or fusion-welded tubular products with an addition of filler metal. A combination of two or more forming operations could be used to shape these fittings.
ASTM A234 pipe fittings are used for the pressure piping systems for both moderate as well as high temperature services.
The ASTM A234 specification lists down several forming procedures that could be performed on the SA234 WP9 Cl1 Pipe Fittings. Commonly procedures such as extruding, upsetting, hammering, pressing, piercing, rolling, bending, fusion welding and machining are used to shape the Low Buttweld SA234 Gr WP9 Fittings. The specification also recommends a method of cooling these fittings once they have been formed at an elevated temperature. In order to prevent injurious defects on the fittings, the rate of cooling the High Alloy Steel A234 Gr WP9 Elbow must not be more than the rate of cooling in air.
