UNS S31600, which is often referred to as marine grade stainless steel offers much better mechanical and corrosion resistance properties in comparison to austenitic stainless steel alloy 304. Similar to alloy 304, the Stainless Steel 316 Pipe Fittings belong to the austenitic family of stainless steels. Although it is known as a chromium-nickel stainless steel alloy, this molybdenum bearing alloy grade imparts good pitting resistance to the fitting in comparison to regular stainless steel and carbon or alloy steel grade fittings.
ANSI B16.9 Stainless Steel 316 Pipe Fittings is a fitting that corresponds to the specified parameters such as overall dimensions, ratings, tolerances, testing, and markings during its manufacture.
Wrought grade UNS S31600 ASTM A403 WP316 Buttweld Pipe Fittings are produced in the factory and are made available between a size range of NPS 1 ⁄ 2 through NPS 48. The ASTM A403 specification also requires that the chemistry of the Werkstoff No.1.4436 316 Stainless Steel Fittings conform to the standard with regards to elements such as carbon, silicon, chromium, manganese, phosphorus, sulfur, molybdenum, and titanium. To check the conformance of these ASME B16.9 SS 316 Fittings, they are subjected to both a chemical as well as a product analysis. Although these fittings are to be administered tension tests, to determine its mechanical properties, most buyers prefer that the ASTM A403 WP316 Fittings have been visually examined for defects.
