Titanium Flanges are known to have tensile strength properties similar to that of low grade steel alloys, save for the density which is less. In fact, the high weight to strength ratio is one of the main reasons why these Titanium Flanges are regularly used in aircraft, spacecraft and missiles, not to forget their ability to withstand extremes of temperature.
As titanium components are known to exhibit excellent resistance to corrosion in the brine solutions or marine environment, Titanium Blind Flanges are used in desalination plants as well as in applications involving the hulls of ships, submarines and other structures that have been exposed to seawater.
Power plant condensers regularly make use of Ti. Grade 2 Pipe Flanges due to their resistance to corrosion.
A Titanium Exhaust Flange is a device that can be used to attach an exhaust pipe to an exhaust manifold or to another piece of an exhaust pipe. In today’s exhaust systems a ball-type socket is used which eliminates the need for a gasket because the flange has been tightened against a preformed exhaust pipe in order to create a leak-proof seal. Grade 2 Titanium Slip On Flange can be used up to a temperature of 800°F in continuous service, whereas grade in the case of its use in intermittent service at, titanium grade 2 flanges could be used up to a temperature of 1000°F.
Apart from marine engineering, typical applications for Grade 2 Titanium Lap Joint Flange includes oil & gas, reaction and pressure vessels, heat exchangers, liners, flue-gas desulphurization systems along with other industrial equipment.
