Using a flange in a piping system, brings about some ease in terms of cleaning, modifying or inspecting these systems. Apart from connecting pipes, the Stainless Steel 316L Flanges are used to connect valves, pumps and other equipment in a piping system. After being hot worked, forgings such as the ASME B16.5 Sa 182 F316L Slip On Flanges have to first be cooled to a specific temperature before being heat treated. Heat treatment is to be performed on these Werkstoff No. 1.4401 316L Stainless Steel Flanges keeping in accordance with certain requirements of the ASTM A182 specification such as the type of heat treatment to be done on the flange, austenitizing/solution temperature, cooling media to be used, as well as the quenching process. Both the chemical composition and the mechanical properties are required to conform to the ASTM A182 specification. Speaking of its chemistry, the alloy used to produce UNS S31600 SS 316L Flange contains a significant addition of nitrogen. Nitrogen, when added to most low carbon alloys, is known to improve its properties. For e.g. the Yield strength of ASTM A182 F316L Flange is improved to a great extent when nitrogen is added to its alloy as is resistance to pitting corrosion.
