AISI 4130 is a steel grade that has good formability and ductility properties, which means the alloy could be used to produce different AISI 4130 Fittings such as straight tees, reducing tees, long-radius elbows, 3R elbows, caps and reducers. The material for this low alloy steel has excellent ductility in an annealed condition and it is a through hardening alloy. Since this low alloyed steel grade contains chromium and molybdenum as strengthening agents, the AISI 4130 BW Pipe Cap inherit properties like good hardenability, strength, wear resistance as well as toughness. A low carbon content indicates that these fittings could be easily welded. In fact, due to its exceptional welding properties, the AISI 4130 Buttweld Pipe Fittings are weldable using all commercial shop practices. Moreover, grade AISI 4130 can be readily machined in its normalized or tempered condition.
The flexibility afforded by heat treatment options permits the alloy to attain good levels of both toughness and strength properties.

With a density of 7.85 g/cm3, the Alloy Steel AISI 4130 Reducer benefits from a heat treatment hardening process. Low steel alloy grade4130 can be easily cold worked, hot worked, as well as forged. However, the alloy AISI 4130 Pipe Fittings cannot be aged. While steel grade 4130 works best as a type of structural steel and fittings like the AISI 4130 Elbow are frequently seen used in structural applications in the aircraft and construction or building industry.
