Stainless Steel 446 Sheet is made up of a high alloy material with more chromium in the content and therefore more corrosion resistant. Suryadeep Industry is a manufacturer and leading supplier of the SS 446 Coils and other forms of the plates in different dimensions and types. The material is a ferritic and non – heat treatable alloy. It provides high temperature resistance and high corrosion resistance. The AISI 446 Plate is also resistant to oxidation. The composition includes 23% minimum chromium, iron, manganese, silicon, nickel, carbon, phosphorus and sulfur. The material is strong and has 345MPa minimum yield strength with 550MPa minimum tensile strength. The Stainless Steel 446 Plates have good elastic modulus, elongation at break and hardness. The Brinell hardness of the material is about 159BNH. The SUS 446 Plate can be machined with slow speeds, constant supply of positive speeds and sharp machines. The welding procedure is easy with this grade of sheets and filler materials are not necessary.
SS 446 Sheets can be forged at high temperatures above 1149 degrees Celsius. The hot working is also possible on the sheets. The SS 446 Circle and other forms can be hot worked in the range of 1093 degrees to 1177 degrees Celsius. The material is difficult to be cold worked upon because of the high chromium content. The 446 Stainless Steel Hot Rolled Plates can be annealed by rapid heating and water quenching but the temperatures for annealing are limited to 900 degrees Celsius. There are different finishes to the plates such as the 446 SS Chequered Plate and many other types. The applications of the SS Werkstoff No 1.4762 Sheets can be seen in x-ray bases, furnace parts, oil burner components, annealing boxes, kiln linings and many others. Please feel free to contact us for more information on the ASTM A240 Stainless Steel 446 Shim Sheets and their prices.

Grade | Reasons for choosing the grade |
416 | High machinability is required, and the lower corrosion resistance of 416 is acceptable. |
420 | A higher hardened strength or hardness than can be obtained from 410 is needed. |
440C | A higher hardened strength or hardness than can be obtained even from 420 is needed |
Equipment | Size Range | Standard Internal Tolerances (Inch) |
---|---|---|
Dynamic Waterjet | 20 Gauge sheets through 8 inch thickness range, Our two largest table sizes are: 124″x 241″ and 78.8” X 305.5” | Part tolerances of ±.030” is standard. Tolerances of ±.005” can be provided. Tolerances may vary depending on thickness |
Plasma | Up to 6.25″ thickness, Plasma Table Size = 10ft X 65ft. 446 Stainless steel Sheet can be plasma cut from 3/16″ thick thru 6.25″ thick. |
Varies by thickness. State of the art equipment enables significantly better tolerances than older plasma technologies. |
