Titanium Grade 5 Plate is composed of 90% titanium with aluminum, vanadium, iron and oxygen. The material has excellent strength and corrosion resistance. The Titanium Gr 5 Sheets also have low modulus of elasticity and good weldability. The Ti-6Al-4V Plates as the grade 5 titanium plates are commercially known are one of the most used grades of titanium because of the optimum mechanical properties balancing with the cost. There are Grade 5 Titanium Chequered Plate, perforated plates and polished plates. There are other forms such as the ASME SB-348 Gr 5 Coils and strips. The addition of aluminum and vanadium is responsible for the increased hardness than the commercially pure grades of titanium.
The Titanium Ti6Al4V Sheets and coils range from 0.012 inches to 0.125 inches, the plates range from 0.25 inches to 4 inches and the dimensions vary according to the applications of the ASTM B265 Titanium Alloy Steel Plate as well. The material is a two phase alloy that is non – magnetic. It has both alpha and beta structures in the metallurgy. The Ti-6-4 Strips can operate under high temperatures and are oxidation resistance at temperatures up to 538 degrees Celsius. The hardness of the Cp Grade 5 Titanium Sheet is improved by mill annealing and the Brinell hardness value is 360BHN. It can be machined and welded with necessary prerequisites. The Titanium Alloy Gr 5 Foil has minimum tensile strength of 120ksi and minimum yield strength of 16.4ksi. The Titanium Gr 5 Coil is used under high temperatures without oxidation risks.
