CORTEN B Steel Plate is a member of weathering steels. The plate is used in heavy load bearing applications and in high temperature applications. The corten plates and all weathering steels plates form an oxide layer known as patina which gives them the identity as weathering steels. They have minimum tensile strength of 485MPa and minimum yield strength of 345MPa.

Open atmosphere makes the steels rust but the rusted oxide layer or patina acts as a preventive layer and avoids further rusting. The material is also high temperature resistant so that it could be used in high temperature applications as well. The Astm A588 Corten Gr.b Cold Rolled Plates are used in power plants, food processing plants and in chemical applications as well. The strength of the material allows the Astm A588 Grade B Sheets to be used in heavy load bearing applications. Due to the low carbon content, the En10025-5 S355 Jow Plate is good for welding applications.
